FAQ
Auction Listings & Priority
When multiple clients request the same listing, how is priority determined?
Priority is generally based on confirmed maximum bid. The client holding the highest confirmed maximum bid at the time the auction closes will receive purchase priority for that listing.
Is priority fixed once submitted?
Priority may change during an active auction. If a higher confirmed maximum bid is received before the auction closes, purchase priority may shift accordingly. You may be informed if your priority status changes.
If my bid secures the listing, will I be charged my full maximum bid?
No. Your maximum bid represents your ceiling, not your final cost. You will only be charged the final secured price.
Example: If an auction closes at $500 and one client submitted a $700 maximum bid while another submitted a $1,000 maximum bid, purchase priority would go to the client with the $1,000 confirmed maximum bid. That client would still only pay the final secured price of $500, plus applicable fees and shipping. Their submitted maximum of $1,000 would not be charged.
Is submitting a maximum bid considered a purchase commitment?
Yes. Confirmed maximum bids are treated as serious purchase commitments. If your bid successfully secures the listing, you will be expected to complete payment for the final secured amount.
Will Hibikoto share details of other clients' bids?
No. All client information, including identity, maximum bid amounts, and status, is kept strictly confidential. In some cases, we may inform you that another client currently holds higher bidding priority on a specific listing. No further details will be shared.
Can you guarantee a successful outcome?
Auctions unfold in real time, and results cannot be guaranteed. Hibikoto acts as your representative in Japan, sourcing, verifying, and bidding on your behalf, but final outcomes ultimately depend on live market conditions.
